A collection for hobby purposes has some value. To be prepared for the loss of a collection, a record of what is included will aid in insurance payment for a loss.

Copies of better postcards need to be recorded on some form of media. Although time consuming to produce, this may be a good investment of time to accomplish.

This record, even if only color copies, needs to be placed in a different location than the actual collection.

A separate rider on a house insurance policy may also be a good investment.
